Sugar Osmanthus
Ingredients
- Fresh Osmanthus Appropriate amount
- Soft white sugar Appropriate amount
- Glass bottle One
- The amount of ingredients can be adjusted according to how much you want to use
Steps
1. What I picked was this kind of osmanthus. It has red flowers and a very strong fragrance. When picking sweet-scented osmanthus, you must pick it on a sunny day, so that the picked sweet-scented osmanthus will be clean and free of bugs.
2. Pour the picked fresh osmanthus into a clean large plate.
3. Pick only the petals, but not the roots and dried flowers.
4. This is a well-selected osmanthus without impurities
5. Rinse the sweet-scented osmanthus with clean water, then add a little salt and rinse thoroughly.
6. Then put it in a mesh and place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry
7. After the osmanthus is completely dry, prepare white sugar and a sterilized clean and dry glass bottle, and then start pickling the sugar osmanthus.
8. First put a layer of osmanthus at the bottom of the bottle
9. Then sprinkle a layer of sugar on top of the osmanthus
10. Place a layer of sweet-scented osmanthus and a layer of sugar in turn. Press down gently when adding it, because when pickling, the sugar will soak into the sweet-scented osmanthus and it will become less. Just press it. Decorate more.
11. Use soft white sugar for the last layer, compact it tightly, and close the bottle cap tightly.
12. Okay, put it in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. After the sugar is completely dissolved, the sugar osmanthus can be used.
Tips
- The whole process of pickling sugar osmanthus must be kept dry and do not touch water, so that the pickled sugar osmanthus can be preserved for a long time.
- Every time you use sugar osmanthus, be sure to take it out with a dry and clean spoon and put it back in the refrigerator for storage.
- The bottle must be sterilized. I scalded it with boiling water and dried it, then dipped a cotton swab in high-strength white wine and wiped it before use.
- If you don’t have fresh osmanthus, you can also use dried osmanthus to pickle it.
- You can also use honey instead of white sugar to pickle the osmanthus, but I think honey also has a floral flavor, so I still use white sugar to preserve the osmanthus. Original fragrance.
