Braised Beef and Potatoes
Beef 700g | Potato 1 |
Tomatoes 1 | Onion Half |
Carrot One stick | Onions, ginger and garlic 20g each |
Dried chili 2 | Star anise 2 pieces |
Cinnamon 2 tablets | Light soy sauce 30ml (2 scoops) |
Cooking wine 30ml (2 scoops) | Old soy sauce 8ml (half scoop) |
Step 1
Wash the beef and cut it into pieces. Add water to the pot and add the beef cubes. After the water boils, skim off the foam.Step 2
Remove the beef and put it into a bowl, add 1 spoon of light soy sauce, 1 spoon of cooking wine, half a spoon of dark soy sauce, and marinate for 15 minutes.Step 3
Potatoes, tomatoes, carrots cut into cubes, onions cut into stripsStep 4
Cut green onion into sections, slice ginger and garlic, and cut dry chili into sections.Step 5
Heat oil in a pot, add onion, ginger, garlic and saute until fragrantStep 6
Add the dried chili and stir-fry, then add the marinated beef cubes and stir-fry quicklyStep 7
Add star anise, cinnamon, oneAdd a spoonful of cooking wine and a spoonful of light soy sauce and stir-fry until the beef is coloured. Add onions and tomatoes and stir-fry until the onions and tomatoes become soft.Step 8
Add boiling water (need more), after the water boils, turn to low heat and simmer for 15 minutesStep 9
️After 15 minutes, add potatoes and carrots, bring to a boil over high heat, then turn to low heat and simmer for 50 minutesStep 10
After 50 minutes, taste to see if you need to add salt, then turn to high heat to reduce the juice (use a spatula to stir to avoid sticking to the pan). When the soup is almost reduced, you can turn off the heat.Step 11

2. If it is particularly good beef, you can marinate it directly after washing it without blanch it.
