Fancy Pastry—Christmas Snowman Steamed Buns
Ingredients
- Flour 100g
- Warm water 50g
- Yeast 1g
- Corn oil 5g
- Blue dough Butterfly pea pollen
- Black dough Bamboo charcoal powder
- Red dough Monascus powder
- Yellow dough Pumpkin powder
Steps
1. First dissolve the yeast with warm water.
2. Then slowly pour the yeast liquid into the flour while stirring with chopsticks. Stir into cotton wool
3. Add corn oil and knead into a smooth dough
4. Take two pieces of dough of 30g and 35g respectively, knead them into smooth and round shapes to serve as the head and body of the snowman
5. Take another small piece of dough, add butterfly pea pollen and knead it into a blue dough
6. Roll into oval shape
7. Wrap in 30g of dough as a hat
8. Take a piece of dough, add red yeast rice flour, knead it into red color, and roll it into thin strips Take another piece of white dough and roll it into thick strips
9. Wrap the thin red strips around the thick white strips
10. Apply some water to the snowman's head, press the rolled strip against the edge of the hat and glue it on
11. Pinch off the excess red and white strips of dough and roll it into a ball and place it on the tip of the hat
12. A piece of blue dough and a piece of red dough, rolled into thin strips and intertwined together
13. Roll out and cut into long slices 1cm wide
14. Wrap around the snowman’s neck
15. Use bamboo charcoal powder to make the eyes black, use pumpkin powder for the nose, and use the previous red dough for blush
Tips
- Don't ferment for too long and don't make it big. Up to 1.5x is enough. Otherwise, the steamed fancy steamed buns will expand excessively and become deformed
